Origins
Dr. Greg Siren, MD, is the founder of myoActivation. While he no longer sees patients clinically, he remains dedicated to expanding access to the technique across Canada.
He earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (1987), is a Certificant and Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and holds a BSc in Physiology from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Siren’s interest in myofascial trigger points began while working in an urgent care setting in Oregon, where he saw firsthand how the technique provided rapid pain relief with minimal side effects. In 2008-09, while serving as a physician on oil rigs, he had the opportunity to observe its long-term impact, treating workers suffering from significant musculoskeletal pain. He noted how effective pain relief not only improved their physical health but also their overall well-being, inspiring him to establish The myoClinic in 2010 and later co-found the CHANGEpain Clinic in 2013.
Believing that patients should have early access to pain care within their own communities, Dr. Siren developed and trademarked myoActivation, a standardized methodology that enables trained clinicians to deliver consistent, effective results. Since 2010, he has trained healthcare practitioners in this approach.
In 2019, he founded the Anatomic Medicine Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides structured education and training in myoActivation. The program currently includes four levels of training, with ongoing course development, including a specialized program for emergency physicians focused on common ER pain presentations.
As Director of the Anatomic Medicine Foundation, Dr. Siren leads certified training programs for physicians, nurse practitioners, and other licensed providers. He remains actively involved in committees and working groups with Doctors of BC and various health authorities.
